Rollers confident against KCCA

15 Aug 2018

Township Rollers assistant coach, Leutlwetse Tshireletso is confident of victory against Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) this weekend in Uganda.

Mapalastina lock horns with KCCA in a crucial CAF Champions League encounter at Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Kampala at 3pm on August 18.

Both teams have to win the encounter to keep alive their faint chances of advancing to the quarter-finals from Group A.

Esperance de Tunis currently leads the group with 10 points and has already progressed to the quarter-finals.

Egyptian giants Al Ahly, who are in second position with seven points from four matches, are also in a strong position to advance.

However, third placed Rollers and fourth placed KCCA, which have three points respectively, are not totally out yet.

Though their chances of progressing are slim, one of these two teams can still squeeze into the knockout stages provided it wins its last two matches and Al Ahly stumbles in their last matches.

Tshireletso said in an interview that the team was ready for the encounter. He said they have used the BTC Charity Cup matches as preparations ahead of their trip to Kampala.

“If you could see from the lineups in the Charity Cup we used our (strong) team as preparation for the upcoming game against KCCA over the weekend. That’s why we couldn’t give others a chance. We used almost the same squad which is going to travel to Uganda,” he said.

Rollers defeated KCCA 1-0 through a Lemponye Tshireletso goal in their opening Group A match three months ago in Gaborone.

After that victory, Rollers suffered three successive defeats in the tournament.

They lost 4-1 away and 1-0 at home to Esperance and 3-0 to Al Ahly in Alexandria.

Esperance will host Al Ahly at the Stade 7 November on Friday night in another Group A encounter. ENDS
