Notwane sign Moatlhaping
07 Aug 2018
Notwane have bolstered their attack with the signing of former Zebras striker, Moemedi ‘Jomo’ Moatlhaping on a one-year contract.
The 33-year-old experienced goal-poacher arrives at the newly promoted BTC Premiership team from Sharps Shooting Stars, where he was the team’s top goal scorer last season.
“Moemedi ‘Jomo’ Moatlhaping has signed a one year deal with Notwane FC,” the club announced on August 6.
He showed that he had not lost his eye for goals by scoring 17 league goals last season for Sharps, and finishing second in the goal scoring charts behind former Gaborone United attacker Thatayaone ‘Messi’ Kgamanyane.
Moatlhaping, who also played locally for Township Rollers, Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Gaborone United and Extension Gunners as well as the then Silver Stars in South Africa, is expected to add attacking firepower for coach Keitumetse ‘Pio’ Paul’s team.
He featured for Notwane in a pre-season tournament in Jwaneng on August 4.
Notwane, which returns to top flight football after three seasons in the second tier league, have been on a strong campaign to add experienced players to their ranks in preparation of the new season.
The three times top flight champions have already brought in left back Keolopile Molemi and midfielder Richard Legwaila from BDF XI, attacking midfielder Lesego Lubinda from Mochudi Centre Chiefs and young midfielder Emmanuel Sekwena from Extension Gunners.
They have also acquired youthful defender Thato Seagateng from relegated Union Flamengo Santos. ENDS
