Residents of Lentsweletau have praised ongoing developments in their village and applauded government for its efforts in improving rural livelihoods.
Speaking in an interview recently, Kgosi Jack Motswakhumo of Lentsweletau cited development projects such as the paving of internal roads, renovation of the kgotla shelter as well as the construction of four nurses’ houses as some of the major projects that came at the right time.
“Our village has been facing challenges of shortage of accommodation for civil servants, especially nurses, so the construction of staff houses will improve their working condition,” he said.
He noted that lack of accommodation had forced civil servants to commute from as far as Gaborone, saying it affected productivity.
Kgosi Motswakhumo also commended the construction company for its job, as it was indicated that the houses would be completed ahead of schedule.
On the ongoing paving of internal roads in the village, Kgosi Motswakhumo said it would improve the state of roads as most of them were riddled with potholes.
He said the roads became worse and risky during the rainy season as they were often flooded with mud.
Furthermore, he applauded government for the renovation of kgotla shelters at Boseja ward.
According to Kgosi Motswakhumo, the shelters were old and outgrown by the population as they were constructed many years back.
Kgosi Motswakhumo said all the developments have created temporary jobs for the youth in the village and reduced the number of youths at Ipelegeng, which was a major concern.
Despite the developments, Kgosi Motswakhumo indicated that the village was still in need of the long awaited Lentsweletau-Molepolole road.
He said currently they were forced to travel a long distance through Kopong and Metsimotlhabe to reach Molepolole. ENDS
