01 Aug 2018

Chief Justice Mr Terrence Rannowane has called  on supervisors and everyone to be on board and to change their work ethic, be diligent with quality assurance in order to have quality data.

Speaking at a two-day conference held every two year for the Court Records Management System (CRMS) officers, Justice Rannowane said supervisors had to embrace change, lead by example and be in the same boat with users.

CRMS is a tool with critical information relating to cases registered, status of cases, the case load, case disposal, adherence to set turnaround time frames data on special case types such as corruption, small claims, traffic, stock theft and other case, with that is important for the users and other to have to access accurate information at the click of button.

Chief Justice Rannowane said this year’s theme of ‘Reflections on CRMS Reflection quality Assurance Resolutions for the Future, was apt and dovetailed with their future trajectory of having credible and reliable data, regard being had to the fact that 13 years had elapsed since the installation of the system.

He implored all heads of stations and supervisors to ensure the existence of vibrant and robust System Utilisation Committees and Court Team across all stations to holistically and comprehensively attend to and deal with all CRMS and Judicial Case Management (JCM) issues on a regular and frequent basis.

Chief Justice said their vision of “Achieving a World Class Judiciary” is ultimately depending on how well they as users and a key cog of the organisation, apply themselves to proper and accurate system usage.

He assured his staff to stand by them inorder to meet their expectations, take care of their work and strive to do more with less.

He noted that they were at the juncture where they were catapulting CRMS to the next level of E-filing as part of the CRMS application to further enhance access to justice.

He made them aware of the delay to implement as wished, and said funds were now available to kick start it.

Earlier on, welcoming participants to the conference Registrar and Master Mr Michael Motlhabi said the time was meant to introspect on how they can use CRMS as an enabler to reach the strategic vision of the Administration of Justice, which is “Achieving World Class Judiciary”.

Mr Motlhabi said this was the time for them to suggest and agree on a few milestones, which will be the starting point for a new consensus of how to progress CRMS to achieve “World Class Judiciary”. ENDS
