Anglican Church donates house

The Anglican Church in Tsabong has recently donated a house to one of its congregants, Ms Gaotshamekelwe Sephiri.
Gaotshamekelwe aged 35, a single mother of five, was ecstatic after receiving the house, which consists of two bedrooms, a sitting room, bathroom and a kitchen.
Construction of the house was financed through donations from individuals and organisations.
“Gani” (as she is affectionately called) said she suffered from partial deafness, a condition that forced her to drop out of school at junior level, because she was too slow and could not hear teachers properly.
“She was one of three shortlisted candidates to benefit from the project after the church heeded former president Lt. General Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s appeal for housing to assist the less privileged among society,” said Ms Sephonono Bojang.
Ms Bojang, an active member of guilds society in the Anglican church, a committee tasked with the responsibility of spearheading and overseeing the entire project, praised the spirit of cooperation which saw the successful completion of the house despite enormous challenges.
She urged communities to cooperate and be generous towards each other, saying united we can prosper as a nation.
Ms Bojang said it was the church’s mandate to couple the annual church conference with visible projects to make a difference to those in need across the country.
Bishop Belemo praised the Tsabong branch for the gesture and urged other congregants to follow suit and bring about positive change to the communities they live in.
Handing over the house keys to Ms Sephiri, Bishop Metlhayotlhe Belemo encouraged her to continue the Lord’s work and pass the good moral values and principles that have made her such a respectable figure in church and to her kids.
He also advised her to care for the house and her family.
Ms Sephiri, a woman of few words, thanked everyone for their efforts in the project and praised the Lord as all was possible because of him.
The church also donated toiletries to Tsabong Hospital, prison inmates as well as students of Tsabong Unified School, orphans and the needy.
The handing over was done after a national church conference which was attended by congregants from all corners of the Botswana, as well as Kuruman and Kimberly in South Africa.
The event was graced by among others area MP Mr Frans Van der Westerhuizen and Kgosi David Toto. ENDS
