PPADB launches mobile office in Maun
26 Jul 2018
The community of Maun has been implored to use the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) services to improve their livelihoods by trading with the government.
This was said by PPADB Executive chairperson, Ms Bridget John during the launch of the authority’s mobile office in Maun on July 25.
Ms John said the purpose of the mobile office was to take services to customers even those in remote areas as well as improve customer satisfaction.
She said the board’s efforts to expand its offices to other parts of the country were a challenge due to insufficient funds and hence they saw it fit to purchase a mobile office to be able to reach out to customers who cannot easily access its services.
The mobile office, she said, was open to the business community to get informed, assistance and understanding on how doing business with the government can become a success.
Ms John said the mobile office offers internet in registering companies and tender bidding.
She said PPADB strives to carry out all procurements and asset disposals with diligence, transparency, assertiveness and fairness.
She therefore pleaded with stakeholders for support in rooting out any bogus procuring procedure.
She noted that the Integrated Procurement Management System was initiated to minimise resource expenses in procurement and disposal of public assets by travelling long distances to the board offices for services, adding that it will also help in eliminating corruption.
Ms John called on members of the board, public servants, companies, media and the community as a whole to help expose any corrupt procurement procedures to encourage transparency, authenticity, and accountability for the benefit of all.
The North West District Councild eputy commissioner, Ms Goitseone Nkwe-Tabane applauded PPADB for the mobile office, saying it was one of a kind.
She advised the Maun business community to use the office before it tours other places.
Ms Nkwe-Tabane pointed out that the project was ‘a brilliant idea’ considering that it will help cover many people especially those in remote areas. ENDS
