President  Mokgweetsi Masisi is expected to officially open the Moshupa/Manyana trade show billed for this weekend.

In an interview, deputy district commissioner, Ms Sebokwane Kgope said the annual event, which started as an agricultural expo in 2017, is now a trade show. 

Ms Kgope said they found it imperative to change the scope of the show to include a wider variety of exhibitors.

The event will be held under the theme: Promoting Entrepreneurship: Enriching the Lives of Batswana.

She called upon members of the business community, especially the youth, to take advantage of the event, saying it can help them to establish and expand partnerships to further develop and sustain their businesses.

“Partaking in these occasions accords opportunities for networking, growth as well as sustainable economic development at national and regional levels,” she said.

Ms Kgope pleaded with the community to attend the event in large numbers to ensure its success.

For his part, the trade show organising committee member for publicity, Mr Mogomotsi Matsila, said preparations are progressing well, revealing that so far they have managed to construct kraals and housing for birds, among others. 

He said with the response of relevant stakeholders, the event is promising to be a success. 

He lamented however that with climate change conditions, there might be a decline in the number of grain crop exhibitors. 

Mr Matsila said they expected exhibits to start arriving yesterday, while the evaluation will be held on Friday (July 27).

He also revealed that there would be a fashion model parade showcasing artefacts of sub-district designers as well as the champions’ parade so as to amuse attendants.

Meanwhile, Moshupa Sub-District crop production officer, Mr Namati Thapelo said they were expecting many farmers, more especially youth who were assisted under the Youth Development Fund (YDF).

Mr Thapelo stated that they were also expecting social and community development projects  as well as performing artistes. ENDS
