Masire-Mwamba salutes heads of public service

Commonwealth deputy secretary general, Mrs Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba has applauded the Commonwealth Heads of Public Service in African countries for playing a pivotal role in the development agenda to deliver services for the benefit of people.

Speaking at the 10th Forum of Commonwealth Heads of African Public Services farewell dinner in Gaborone on July 25, Mrs Masire-Mwamba also congratulated the principal secretaries for taking on board the political and administrative interface which, she said, was a challenge to unbundle and talk about it openly as they did during the forum.

“Whatever you have come up with during this forum, was well worth it and will assist you in your administrations to be able to facilitate your objectives,” she said. She urged the forum delegates to communicate openly and directly in a way that allowed all to move forward.

For his part, Head of Public Service from Swaziland, Mr Mbuso Dlamini applauded Botswana for the quality systems it has engaged in its running of the public service. “The quality of people that have come from this service is so high and felt, as well as acknowledged all around the region”, he said.

He applauded the networking that the forum has provided adding that it will surely bring positive results among members and participants. ENDS
