First National Bank of Botswana has been awarded the Best Bank in Botswana by the Euromoney 2018 Awards for Excellence.
Addressing a media brief on July 20, chief executive officer, Mr Steven Bogatsu said FNBB’s accolade was attributed to the bank’s strategy of always putting customers first coupled with the ability to harness technology for banking efficiencies that added significant value to customers.
He said the award was further testament to the hard work and dedication of staff and their commitment to provide a full range of innovative financial services and products to all their customers.
“One of FNBB’s strategic focus is to continuously penetrate areas where the bank has no presence with its Brick to Clicks strategy which is well aligned to maximise the benefits of technology while simplifying the lives of customers,” he said.
Mr Bogatsu said some of Brick to Clicks inventions included internet banking, cellphone banking, ewallet, *174# mobile transact, *186# payment platform, online shopping payment gateway, banking app and ATMs with deposits.
“Our digital platforms continue to be the driving force for innovation and change. To date, digital platforms accounts for 90 per cent of all transactions in the bank,” he said, adding that this not only fulfilled the digital migration strategy but drove the customer centricity agenda by creating real value for customers in terms of convenience and cost efficiencies.
Mr Bogatsu thanked customers for their patronage and the bank employees for their continued focus on keeping FNBB the customers’ most preferred financial partner.
“FNBB has been operating in Botswana for 27 years and is the most profitable bank in Botswana with the most diversified balance sheet structured to achieve sustainable profits in all economic conditions,” he said.
The Best Bank award is given to institutions with commercial and retail banking capabilities and is awarded on the basis of both geographical coverage of a region and best practice within a region.
Since 1992, Euromoney, the world’s leading financial markets magazine, has singled out the outstanding institutions in finance.
Over the years, the awards for excellence have evolved with the markets they cover and now incorporate 25 global awards for banking and capital markets.
