 It takes a lot of courage and passion for a 63-year-old woman to continue doing what they love most, fashion design.

Ms Kegaisangmang Modisane started her craft way back when she acquired the skills for fashion design by working with the elders who had experience.

In an interview, Ms Modisane said she started having an inherent interest in fashion design during her stay in Gaborone to which after acquiring the necessary skills she never looked back.

She said unlike those who had to go to school to learn and perfect their skill, for her it did not come as easy as she had to learn from her mistakes to be where she was now.

Ms Modisane said this was a testimony that when one was keen on doing something, the secret was to remain focused amidst challenges that may arise.

She said benefiting from the poverty eradication programme in 2012 through machinery and materials gave her an unrelenting spirit to never give up.

Ms Modisane said her attitude to persevere despite the competitive market, gave her hope that eventually, her designs would create a faithful customer base.

The well-experienced designer has decided to specialize in African print and Tswana designs. However, she also designs school uniforms, jerseys and track tops and sells them to students as a way of making quick income.

Attending training for two weeks at Madirelo training centre has also enhanced her skills as she learnt new trends in fashion design and customer service.

Ms Modisane said in the past because she had always assumed that she had a lot of experience, she never bothered with taking measurements but rather made an eye assessment.

However, from the training, she said now she has learnt new ways of assisting customers among them taking measurements so that one gets the exact measure and the design they desired.She appreciated the training that has been offered adding that she will combine it with her experience to build her business.
