The new entrants on the Mascom Volley ball league, Yaros, has walloped Mafolofolo 3-1 in a tightly contested game in Molepolole on July 17.
The games, which were held at Molepolole Institute of Health Sciences over the holidays were meant to avail game time to a lot of teams, which were behind in the league specially that the first round of the season is beckoning.
Yaros on the men side approached the tourney as the underdogs with nothing to prove when playing against their strong opponents.
On Saturday July 14, the Maun young side played against Mafolofolo and they lost all the three sets.
On July 15, they maintained their stance of ‘no intimidation’ and they managed to beat Desert Kings winning all the three sets as they had gained their confidence.
When playing their third game on July 16, they maintained the same form and beat the mighty Mafolofolo 3-1.
Yaros’ coach, Franse Mashamaite commended his boys stating that he was happy with the outcome.
He said although they had encountered challenges when playing against some of the big teams, they had no pressure of winning games.
‘A win to us was bonus’ he stated adding that so far their play is good despite the fact that they are a young team with no experience.
He however said their future looks bright.
Nevertheless, Yaros’ captain Tshepaone Orapeleng said some of their players could not participate because of lack of funds to transport them from Maun.
This, he said was a huge challenge on their side.
Meanwhile, Mafolofolo coach, Peloentle Gaosegelwe acknowledged that playing against Yaros was tough, infact, they had played very tough games in their entire games losing nine points in two days.
He said they lost against Kutlwano and Spiking Stars three sets to nil consecutively and won one set losing two sets to Yaros.
He said one factor that contributed to them losing so many games was because some of their players were playing in recently ended CUCSSA games and the University games in Ethiopia as most of their players were students.
This, then means that they did not have game time during those two competitions.
He however noted that it was not the end of the world because they had a youthful talented side and were bound to cause an upset in future. ENDS
