Minister of Agricultutre, Mr Christiaan De Graaff has told public officers that espousing honesty and reliability in service provision uplifts the integrity of the ministry and that of the individual employee.

Launching the ministry’s corruption prevention policy at the national veterinary laboratory, he urged them to be accountable and meet the public interests to promote public confidence. “By instilling the spirit of team work, we would be building a common understanding of our obligations to prevent corruption in the work place,” he said.

Mr De Graaff said Botho was a key ingredient to corruption prevention as it influenced good conduct in the execution of work.  By upholding the culture of Botho in the workplace, one could develop a sense of responsibility thereby minimising corrupt practices as well as building a good reputation for the ministry.

Giving a word of encouragement, the public service pageant first princess, Ms Keamogetse Boitshepo said it was important to serve the customers without expecting a reward. Ms Boitshepo urged officers to be accountable and avoid taking part in corruption practices. ENDS
