BotswanaPost develops framework
11 Jul 2018
Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Kitso Mokaila says BotswanaPost is developing a strategic framework which is anchored on the communities undertaking co-development of properties, which are ready for immediate occupation. Answering a question in Parliament on Tuesday, Mr Mokaila said the framework also covered communities that availed land for post office construction. The minister said he was aware of the status of the plot allocation in Dukwi as his ministry had not changed on the promise to the community of Dukwi and remained committed to providing them with postal services.
He further noted that through BotswanaPost, his Ministry had on some occasions collaborated with communities to set up postal agencies. He added that this was a model embedded in BotswanaPost’s operations and cited Seronga Post Office as an example of such collaboration, where the community had availed land. Member of Parliament for Nata-Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga had asked the minister if he would consider building a Post Office in Dukwi as promised some years ago and if he was aware that a plot was allocated for that project. Mr Majaga further asked if the Ministry would consider allowing Dukwi community to build the Post Office. BOPA
