PPADB empowers parastatals
11 Jul 2018
PPADB executive chairperson has encouraged all public entities to take keen interest in developing local and citizen capacity by buying Botswana products.
Addressing parastatals at a capacity building workshop recently, Ms Bridget John said such would complement government’s efforts to promote Economic Diversification Drive and empower citizens.
She told participants that their organisation promoted good governance as it supported transparency, competition and accountability in the use of public resources.
She added that there was also need to improve transparency in dealing with the private sector through clear tender documents, objective evaluation criteria and debriefing of bidders after award for them to appreciate their shortfalls and do better in future tenders.
Thus, she explained that the workshop aimed to continue to update parastatals on developments in procurement and asset disposal in the interest of continual improvement to ensure that government got best value from procurement and asset disposal.
For her part, PPADB director-services, Ms Tumelo Motsumi said principles that guided PPADB included fair and equitably treating all contractors, exercising transparency, standardising procurement items among others. ENDS
