Kanye Masters adopts Kuto Primary School

10 Jul 2018

The Regional Education Director for the Kanye region, Mr Acronews Maseko yesterday commended Kanye Masters social club for adopting Kuto Primary School.

Speaking during the official launch of the club sponsor: Kewagamang Dental Clinic in Kanye, Mr Maseko said their gesture complemented government’s efforts to provide quality education to all Batswana.

He revealed that in the past the club donated soccer and netball kit as well as computers to the school, adding that the gesture would go a long way in reducing the burden of investment on education by government.

Mr Maseko said the cost of education had escalated over the past three decades, therefore it is important for the private sector to join hands with government.

He said Vision 2036 underscored that quality education could enable the country to compete globally, saying at the moment, skills provided by the education sector did not match the job market needs, hence the high unemployment rate.

He applauded the club sponsors among them The Elders Bar, G-sport and Kewagamang Dental Clinic for meeting government halfway, adding it was imperative for successful Batswana to plough back into the communities.

He said research tied the success of many economies across the world to quality education through active involvement of the private sector.

Mr Maseko pledged to give the club unlimited access to the school grounds, as a way of reciprocating their gesture.

The director further applauded the social club, which comprised retired soccer players, for promoting health, physical activity and networking opportunities through sport.

He said their example would mobilise, especially unemployed youth, to engage in sport for recreation.

For his part, Dr Topo Kewagamang said the donation to Kanye Masters was the beginning of a long journey with them as part of Kewagamang Dental Clinic’s corporate social responsibility.

He also pledged to assist team members’ families on medical aid, without the 10 per cent core payment, which is otherwise paid up-front.

Dr Kewagamang observed that the payment usually prevented some people from enjoying their medical aid benefits.

The Kanye-born dentist challenged Batswana to get their teeth cleaned by a professional every six months.

He said they usually did oral health screening for free during community outreach programmes, adding that more still needed to be done to educate Batswana about oral health.

Kanye Masters representative, Mr Katlego Motlotlegi thanked Dr Kewagamang for the gesture and urged Kanye youth to use sport as a vehicle to get out of delinquency.

He said the club had so far helped raise funds for the girl child in Goodhope among others, revealing that the club aimed to create a positive impact in the community through sport. ENDS
