Seretse applauds matimela division

Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Dikgakgamatso Seretse says a milestone is achieved when providing shelter for less fortunate people in society.
Thus, Mr Seretse said the gesture by Central District Council-Matimela Division to build a house for a less privileged person in Gojwane was a good gesture that should be emulated by other organisations in Botswana
Speaking during the ground breaking event held to mark the construction of a house for a destitute person in Gojwane recently, Mr Seretse who is also Member of Parliament for Serowe North East said the move was also in line with Vision 2016 pillar of being a compassionate and caring nation.
Also, he said it was a response to President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s Presidential housing Appeal initiative which is meant to restore dignity among the less privileged members of society.
He said the house would go a long way in providing security and dignity to the person
He commended Matimela Division for their giving spirit saying they started with donations of clothes, blankets across the district from 2006-2010.
When giving an overview of the project, chief Matimela officer at Central District Council, Mr Tswelelo Makunga said they started with donations of blankets in 23 wards in Serowe.
In 2009, he said they also donated blankets in Bobirwa and in Nata in 2010
He further pointed out that they donated a two and a half roomed house in Taupye in 2011 and a one roomed house and a toilet in Boteti Sub DistrictSerule-Gojwane councillor, Mr Seno Mokhondo acknowledged the Matimela Division for helping the less privileged
Mr Mokhondo also called on residents of Gojwane to keep an eye on the building material meant to be used to construct a house for their resident He also urged residents to help in building the house. ENDS
