Sheerwood village market day continues to grow

 Sheerwood village market day organiser, Ms Kae Ferguson says Sheerwood market day continues to grow from strength to strength.

Ms Ferguson said in an interview at the market day organised for the local craftmen and women on Saturday at Sheerwood area that the show offered an important forum for small businesses to showcase their products and services.

The forum, she added had created an enabling environment for traders, who were happy to have a market to sell their products at.

Ms Ferguson however said she was happy because the items sold at the market ‘are mostly crafts and are produced locally.’

Goods displayed at the markets included handmade jewelry, bags and knitwear, toys, pottery, food, fresh produce, gifts and plants.

Many people from as far as Thamaga, attended the market day.Many traders applauded the move to set up the market day, adding that it would provide them with an opportunity to sell their products.

They said that they had made contacts with tourists and business people who use the road to Martins Drift border post.

One trader, Ms Hannah Chiswiti, who specialises in African print items said she heard about the market day and wanted to explore it.

She said her business is based in Thamaga, and she was happy because she got an opportunity to sell many of her items.

Other traders said they were hopeful that the organisers of the market day would offer them the place so that they could use it every day to sell their products.ENDS
