Youth cajoles peers into owning businesses

09 Jul 2018

As a youth, knowing  the vulnerability and different challenges facing other young people, a young ambitious youth from Tlokweng found it fit to intervene and offer a helping hand.

Commonly known for his funny jokes on social media, Maatla Basha owns a Company, called ‘Maatla eb Consultancy’.

Through this business which deals with company registration, business proposals, secretary services and others, Mr Basha helps youth to start up their own companies and be their own bosses as well as creating jobs for others.

With only a year, Mr Basha said in an interview that his business is doing well in the market and that it has already hired three youth employees.

Mr Basha explained that after encountering life’s challenges, he decided to start up his own business.

“After completing a temporary job as a teacher life took another turn. It was very difficult for me. I tried so many things but nothing worked, that is when the idea of starting a consultancy business came,” he said.

He said mostly he uses Facebook to post jokes which at the end advertise his business.

He said his intention is to see his business growing big so that it can create more employment for young people hence training and mentoring them to start up their own business.

He indicated that though businesses are bound to have challenges, to him challenges are opportunities.

Though he did not get funded by the youth office, Maatla said he visits the office regularly for advice on many things regarding business.

He noted that he started his consultancy business in 2017 but did not focus much on it since he was engaged in other activities like selling vegetables and biltong.

He said after realising that the consultancy business needs much of his attention, as more people approached him for his services, he decided to open an office and focused fully on it. ENDS
