Dinokeng Business Expo Seed for entrepreneuship
05 Jul 2018
The fourth annual exposition of the Dinokeng Business Exposition (DBE) was held in Mmathubudukwane recently.
The objective of the exposition, which was held under the theme “Advancing Entrepreneurship, tapping into the basics of theory and practice across the globe” is to provide a platform for upcoming and existing businesses to network and share business skills and techniques.
The business expo recorded an increase of exhibitors and attendees and activities as compared to the previous ones. When giving the keynote address, Mr Gobusamang Rampa, owner and managing director of Agrisales and Hyper Store, encouraged attendees to gain work experience to expedite their desires, and not be afraid to fail before their ultimate breakthrough. Mr Rampa advised aspiring entrepreneurs to be tolerant and eager to learn from industry leaders, further urging people to register companies and be ready to trade. “Iron sharpens iron. Don’t enter the industry with an attitude ... Also bear in mind that entrepreneurship undergoes different seasons, therefore always have attainable goals, saving is the one vital gesture to start and advance your business …,” he said.
He further advised entrepreneurs not to succumb to disappointments that many are bound to meet but to endure, emphasising the significance of having a mentor through the trying times of business. Moreover, he beseeched them to never tire of soliciting sponsorship, partnerships as well as utilising government programmes.
Mr Rampa also implored exhibitors and attendees to be self-motivated and have faith in what they do to attract clientele.
For her part, third time exhibitor and business owner, Ms Lesego Meswele testified that DBE aided her growth and expansion through networking and benchmarking.
Ms Meswele implored people to leave their comfort zones, adding that business and success cannot come crawling to a lazy and reluctant person. “The right moment will never come therefore make use of every moment and opportunity you get and embrace humble beginnings, form networks and partnerships. Above all women work together to attain women and girl child empowerment…,” said Ms Meswele. DBE Chairperson, Mr Anthony Rasetshwane said he was pleased with the growth and attendance of the expo as it meant they were making a difference in the lives of business people.
He said it was never easy, but they persevered and are still hoping for further growth.
Mr Rasetshwane said this year, they added a day to make it a two-day exhibition, with day one set aside for seminars, workshops, business coaching as well as exhibitors’ networking and entrepreneurship panel discussions. He said DBE was not only promoting business, but Dinoka villages, nurturing other team members, adding that some already have powerhouse businesses and have created employment.
He further said the expo is inclusive as it accommodates exhibitors from across the country as well as partners and forms networks with other stakeholders.
Ms Rasetshwane appreciated the support of all sponsors, donors and stakeholders in ensuring the annual Dinokeng Business Expo becomes the success it is. The two-day expo attracted exhibitors from neighbouring villages and from across the country. It was also graced by industry leaders and DBE patron, CEO of Botswana Stock Exchange, Mr Thapelo Tsheole. ENDS
