Mascom session features Bokonai Steve Dyer
25 Jul 2013
Mascom live sessions brings us yet another night of soulful jazz music featuring Bokani and Steve Dyer from the band Dyer Tribe.
BotswanaCraft assistant manager, Nicola Hart said in an interview that the event scheduled for August 9 was expected to be a night to remember as Dyer Tribe from South Africa was set to have the crowd harmonising to their music.
Steve Dyer’s latest musical project dubbed Ubuntu Music was released in March 2012 and has gained a SAMA nomination in the jazz album category. The band has performed at the 2012 Cape Town international jazz festival. Mascom Live Sessions began in March 2011 as a partnership between a number of institutions interested in promoting live local and international music in Gaborone.
With Mascom being the main sponsor, Nicola said it is safe to say that the event could not have been a success without the assistance of other partners such as Botswana Craft, Duma FM and Travel Lodge to mention a few. With eight successful shows a year, she said the aim was to keep the legacy going noting that many prolific musicians ranging from Oliver Mtukudzi, Salif Keita, Hugh Masekela and Freshly Ground have graced the stage at BotswanaCraft.
Tickets for the event are valued at P200 and are available at BotswanaCraft. ENDS
