House of Hope gets help
03 Jul 2018
Charleston Academy students from Scotland recently donated winter clothes to House of Hope Orphanage Centre in Palapye.
The school donated gloves, scarfs and stationery.
Speaking in an interview, House of Hope Trust board chairperson, Mr Cedric Ramabele thanked the school and commended them for the gesture.
Mr Ramabele said it was inspiring to have Charleston Academy again at their school and in Palapye because they always brought with them something to put a smile on the children’s faces.
He said there was a lot to learn from Scotland, adding that he was one of the delegation that went to benchmark in Scotland leading to the proposal to establish Botswana teaching council.
“Currently there is a bill a Parliament which calls for the establishment of the teaching council,” Mr Ramabele said.
He said such was an indication that indeed “we are living in a global village.”
They also visited Palapye main Kgotla where they met with Kgosi Masego Olebile who also commended them for maintaining the relationship between the two schools. The relationship he said would go a long way in improving the community of Palapye and the nation at large.
He said such a partnership would not only improve the quality of education for the two countries but would also transform the economy of the country from a resource based to a knowledge based economy. Ends
