Graduate from destitution-Tsogwane

02 Jul 2018

The Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane has informed Rakops residents that it was not government’s plan to keep registering Batswana on the destitution programme.

Vice President Tsogwane said this in Rakops recently when donating blankets to the less privileged members of society.

He said the intention was to empower Batswana and capacitate them with skills that would enable them to graduate from destitution programmes.

Mr Tsogwane said the aim was to create employment opportunities through different government programmes in conjunction with the private sector.

He expressed concern that there was no valid reason why Rakops Trust was non-operational though it had funds and implored them to appoint visionary leaders who put people’s interests at the fore front.

Mr Tsogwane said government was devising strategies to be employed in addressing poor performance in schools. Public support he said was crucial during consultations, most importantly for purposes of advancing developments.

He said President Mokgweetsi Masisi accompanied by Cabinet were scheduled for a visit in China to benchmark and solicit funds for infrastructure development.

Mr Tsogwane said it was highly essential to establish strong relations with other countries to build a better and developed country. He said government had zero tolerance for corruption and cautioned against enticing members of the public with sugar coated programmes and services that they could not deliver.

Action he said, would be taken against corrupt individuals regardless of their status saying even cabinet ministers would be taken to task if found in the wrong. ENDS
