Roman Catholic launches funeral scheme

The Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Francistown has partnered with Kgare Insurance Brokers to launch a funeral scheme tailor-made for its members dubbed Roma Funeral Scheme.
Underwritten by Hollard Insurance Company Botswana, the scheme was launched at Francistown’s St James Parish recently.
Speaking at the launch, the bishop of Francistown Right Reverend Frank Nubuasah said he was happy the church’s relationship with Kgare Insurance Brokers had borne fruit.
He said the reality of death could never be dismissed because ultimately everyone dies.
Bishop Nubuasah said it was therefore crucial to have a funeral scheme to ensure one had a decent burial.
“This partnership will go a long way in giving many of our church members a decent funeral.
Therefore I urge all of our church members to register for this scheme and make it a success,” he said.
Kgare Insurance Brokers managing director Ms Tiny Kgatlwane said with her company’s vast experience in the insurance industry, the church was assured of good service.
Commenting on their partnership with the Roman Catholic Church, she said they identified a market within the church that made business sense and went for it.
“We travelled around pitching this Roma Funeral Scheme in different insurance companies, but ended up agreeing to a better deal with Holland Insurance Botswana,” she noted.
For his part, Hollard Botswana’s Mr Modiri Phuthego said the company had a primary business objective of financial inclusion, that is, designing affordable insurance products that could be accessible to all Batswana.
He said the affordability of the Roma Funeral Scheme was clear evidence of what the company was hoping to achieve.
Ms Goleba Tema of Kgare Insurance Brokers explained that the scheme was solely for members of the Diocese of Francistown made up of Tonota, Serowe, Mahalapye, Letlhakane, Selebi Phikwe,
Tutume, Sebina, Masunga, Kasane, Maun, Ghanzi and Francistown parishes.
She said the scheme was affordable beginning at P15 to P55 and covering members up to 80 years and a maximum of six children up to 22 years including still born babies.
Incentives going with the cover include P5 000 worth of groceries and P100 airtime in the event of death, Ms Tema said. ENDS
