South East District agricultural show Saturday

The second edition of the South East District agricultural show is to be held at Vos Farm in Tlokweng on Saturday (June 30).
The show will, among others, showcase agricultural produce from within the district as well as various public sector and departments exhibits.
The Local Organising Committee chairperson, Mr David Letshoo said preparations for the second installment of the show were ongoing and they were prepared to offer an improved show.
He stated that the exhibits will be judged on Friday (June 29) and winners will be crowned during the main event on Saturday.
Mr Letshoo stated that they were expecting about 300 exhibits and added that more people were showing interest in the show.
He said First National Bank Botswana chief executive officer, Mr Steven Bogatsu will be the guest speaker.
The south east district show chairperson, Mr Alfred Lekgatho also said their preparations were going on smoothly.
By Wednesday, June 27, he said they were doing the final preparations for the arrival of the exhibits.
He said they were hoping for a successful show and added that the show success would be determined by the cooperation between all stakeholders.
Mr Lekgato said other than the agriculture exhibits, government departments would be allowed to showcase their products and services and they too would be judged.
In the past, South East Deputy District Commissioner responsible for Tlokweng sub-district, Mr Richard Boitshwarelo pledged government support to the south east farming community to ensure a successful event.
He said the government, through the office of the district commissioner would always be there to facilitate through various government departments
Mr Boitshwarelo said government departments had been designated into various sub-committees to assist the farmers with knowledge, expertise and resources to organise the show.
He however stated that there was need for the district to up its game in organising the agriculture show, adding that the district was the prime producer of milk and chicken, hence it has something to boost about.
However, Mr Boitshwarelo stated that everything big started small hence the organisers should soldier on as their efforts would growth with time.
After many years without hosting the agricultural show, the South East District last year revived the show and it was held in Mogobane. ENDS
