Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Alfred Madigele says Princess Marina Hospital has a 567-bed capacity and on average admits up to 650 patients exceeding the available bed capacity.
Responding to a question in Parliament recently, Dr Madigele said the hospital recently received 100 new beds that should would avert the shortage.
Minister Madigele said there was shortage of sheets and blankets which prompted the ministry to intervene and fast track the tendering process and a tender was awarded on June 22 with delivery soon.
MP for Gaborone Central, Dr Phenyo Butale had asked the minister about the situation of the hospital with regard to availability of basic hospital necessities such as beds, sheets, blankets and hot water and to state the supply of the aforementioned against the demand of the institution. ENDS
