Damochujenaa readies for poverty eradication workshop

25 Jul 2013

Four poverty eradication workshops have come and gone. While there have been some teething problems here and there in so far as the implementation of the programme is concerned, many can bear testimony to the fact that the programme has indeed changed their lives for the better.

Now, the focus has shifted to Damochujenaa in Mmadinare constituency where about 1 000 poverty eradication beneficiaries, government officials and members of cabinet sub-committee on poverty eradication as well as other stakeholders would converge for yet another enlightening three-day workshop.

On August 1-3, 1 000 beneficiaries from Mmadinare, Bobirwa, Tswapong North and Tonota South as well as Selebi Phikwe constituencies would be taken through paces on issues such as mindset change and skills in business finance among other things.

The Vice President, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe is expected to officially open the workshop. One of the workshop organisers, Mr Ewetse Selelo said clearing of the place where the event would be held was in progress and would be ready by next week.  Mr Selelo said a community service day would take place at Damochujenaa before the commencement of the workshop.

He further pointed out that a training workshop for poverty eradication workshop trainers would take place at Selebi Phikwe Technical College from July 28-30 to prepare for the event.

Meanwhile, the workshop would be characterised by song and dance from local entertainers while committees such as catering and feeding, ushering, transportation and accommodation were formed to pave way for the workshop. ENDS
