BMC upgrade to cost P300 million
19 Jun 2018
The upgrading of Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) in Lobatse will be carried out at an estimated cost of P300million over a period of five years, says Assistant Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Mr France Van Der Westhuizen.
He said the first phase of the upgrading would commence at the end of the year since there was an urgent attention to meet standards required for an abattoir of its magnitude.
He added that the upgrading would be carried out in a period of five years and in a phased manner with the first phase planned to commence at the end of the year (December 2018).
The MP for Lobatse, Advocate Sadique Kebonang had asked the minister whether there were plans to upgrade the BMC abattoir in Lobatse and if so, when, and to state the budget for such an upgrade. ENDS
