The poverty alleviation and housing project in Ghanzi was funded at P66 000 in November 2000, says Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Development, Dr Unity Dow.

She said the amount paid was for the construction of infrastructure, purchasing a brick moulding  machine and to start trial and commercial production.

She noted that the terms of funding were that from the total amount used on the project, only funds used for purchasing of machinery were taken as a loan and had to be paid back.

In this respect, Dr Dow said an amount of about P50 000 was used to purchase machinery and was paid back to government in March 2003.

Ghanzi North MP, Mr Noah Salakae had asked the minister to state the amount loaned to the brick moulding and housing construction project in Ghanzi township carried out under the Integrated Poverty Alleviation and Housing Scheme and the terms of the loan. ENDS
