The Maitengwe road with feeder roads to Changate and Dagwi have not been included in NDP 11, says Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Development, Dr Unity Dow. Answering a parliamentary question on behalf of Minister of Transport and Communications, Dr Dow said the feeder roads to Changate and Dagwi qualified to be considered under the access roads policy.

As such, Dr Dow said the roads would be included for construction to bituminous standard in future when funds were available.

She said the Tutume-Maitengwe road tender for resealing, which was floated in 2017, was recommended for cancellation and retendering.

This, she said, allowed anomalies encountered in the issuance of the associated bill of quantities.

She said the tendering process was underway and that work was expected to start soon.

Nkange MP, Mr Edwin Batshu had wanted to know when the long deferred reconstruction of the Tutume-Maitengwe road with feeder roads to Changate and Dagwi would be started as residents in the said villages had been waiting for the development for almost 10 years.

Mr Batshu also said residents were losing confidence in the government of the day due to the unfulfilled promises.ENDS
