Rollers release Matete Msomi

17 Jun 2018

Township Rollers have parted company with left-back Tshepo Matete and striker Mthokozisi Msomi after just one season

The two South African born players arrived at Mapalastina with high expectations ahead of the past campaign, but found regular game time hard to come by as the Gaborone west giants won the league and cup double.

“Township Rollers FC informs all that Mthokozisi Msomi and Tshepo Matete have mutually agreed on terms to terminate their contract with the club and have been released,” Rollers announced on Friday through a statement.

“Township Rollers FC thanks both of them for their services during their tenure with the club, and we wish them all the very best for all their future endeavours,” the club added.

Msomi was signed in September after spells with first division sides Jomo Cosmos and Cape Town All Stars, but failed to nail down a regular place as head coach, Nikola Kavazovic preferred veteran Joel Mogorosi to lead the attack.

The South African finished the campaign with a paltry four goals in all competitions. The striker was hit with a seven match ban by Botswana Premier League in February for brawling with Tafic defender, Samuel Phiri in a league encounter at the University of Botswana Stadium.  ENDs
