Cabinet thrash Picforce XI

Thapelo ‘DJ Tips’ Olopeng’s brace and an easy tap in from Moiseraele ‘Masterpieces’ Goya on June 14 gave cabinet a resounding 3-0 victory against a hapless Picforce XI, made up of permanent secretaries from different government departments.
President Mokgweetsi ‘Sisiboy’ Masisi watched from the bench as he failed to make it to the starting 11 due to failing a fitness test.
The game, played under floodlights at the University of Botswana Stadium, attracted a sizable crowd of public officers who wrapped up an eventful week that started on Monday with a Public Service Convention that was hosted at the UB indoor sports arena.
The crowd braved the chilly temperatures and filled the western stand to watch the blistering pace and quick feet of Vice President Slumber ‘Slumbisto’ Tsogwane who kept the Picforce defence on their toes the entire evening.
He displayed unmatched ball controlling skills and his pace left the bulky defenders sprawled on the grass.
He could have buried many goals but lady luck smiled the other way as he also missed a penalty.
Picforce XI was saved by the heroics of their acrobatic goalkeeper, Thatayaone ‘LAPCAS’ Dedede whose timely reflexes in the opening half denied the likes of hardshooting Bagalatia ‘Tinytot’ Arone a chance to open the score line.
The combination of Slumbisto, Tinytot and Masterpieces paid off when DJ Tips tapped a well taken pass over the goalie to break the ice. Following a nice build up Masterpieces increased the tally.
In the second half, cabinet came out with guns blazzing again and after a few unsuccessful attempts, DJ Tips put the game beyond reach with a lucky shot after the goalkeeper made a mistake. Sisiboy had joined the team for a pep talk during the break.
Cabinet XI’s manager, Vincent ‘Faras’ Seretse made a few technical changes deep into the second half bringing in the likes of Botlogile ‘Mmaopeneks’ Tshireletso, Dorcas ‘Dog-dog’ Makgato and Bogolo ‘Bambino’ Kenewendo.
The likes of Kabelo ‘Trafic Jam’ Ebineng and Peggy ‘EDD’ Serame also showed glimpses of skill on the side of Picforce XI. In a post-match interview, Sisiboy heaped praise on his teammates and said they intended to keep the clean-sheet in the next game they play. ENDs
