Special constables given unpaid maternity leave

Parliament has learnt that the policy regarding maternity leave is that where a special constable falls pregnant, she is allowed to proceed on unpaid leave of 84 days, being 42 days before delivery and 42 after.
Mr Ramadeluka Seretse, however, said to a large extend the leave was determined by the individual. Gaborone Central MP, Mr Dumelang Saleshando had asked the minister to state the policy regarding maternity leave and feeding hours for special constables.
Mr Seretse, who is the Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, said when they returned to work, they were then given one hour as feeding period for a period of 12 months. ENDS
