Govt sponsors RADP learners

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Kgotla Autlwetse says four form five leavers from both Khwee and Mmea settlements in Boteti East have been sponsored for tertiary education under the Remote Area Development Programme (RADP) in the past two years.
Mr Autlwetse said three were admitted at Institute of Development Management (IDM) and 1 at Gaborone Institute of Professional Studies (GIPS) adding that two students obtained 33points, one obtained 35 points while another one obtained 38 points.
“It must be noted that the entry requirements for government sponsorship for RADS students was pegged at 31 points and above and all students who have applied for sponsorship met the stated requirements have been facilitated,” he said.
Mr Autlwetse said those who did not meet the stipulated cut-off points were advised to either supplement to upgrade their points or enroll in brigades and technical colleges.MP for Boteti East Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the Minister to state the number of students from Boteti East Villages sponsored for tertiary education under RADP in the last the past two years.
He also wanted to know the name of the institutions they are enrolled at, the academic points obtained by the students, the number of unsuccessful applicants for the government sponsorship and how they were being assisted. ENDS
