Sheer determination sustains Iceland

Argentina 1 - 1 Iceland
Excellent teamwork from the Icelandic team sustained them through the tightly contested first half, which saw Argentina finally breaking through with a Sergio Agüero goal.
Argentina would lose the lead after three minutes when Gylfi Sigurdsson’s low cross shot was palmed away unconvincingly by keeper, Caballero, and felt straight on Alfredo Finnbogason, taking full advantage and leveling the score.
The Argentinian side's relentless pursuit of a lead paid off when Iceland conceded a penalty in the 63rd.
Lionell Messi took the shot poorly, and Hannes Thor Halldorsson palmed it away, denying Argentina a crucial lead.
Messi would be denied again in stoppage time when he hit the Icelandic defence wall. ENDS
