Egypt succumb to Uruguay

A Jose Gimenez header on stoppage time gave Uruguay a 1-0 win over Egypt at the Yekaterinburg Arena during Group A match in Moscow.

The two teams seemed evenly matched, although Egypt frustrated Uruguay throughout the game, going to rest with a nil-all draw.

In the second half, Uruguay had good ball possession that they did not use to their advantage as neither team failed score.

Egypt seemed to run out of steam as Uruguay aggressively pursued a goal in the final minutes of the game.

Overcome by pressure, Egypt conceded a free kick just outside the box which Uruguay did not convert.

However, the corner kick that followed, accorded José Giménez a free header securing a win for Uruguay at stoppage time. ENDS
