Monitoring of vehicles continuous process
14 Jun 2018
The monitoring of public service vehicles is a continuous process which is conducted from time to time by the Department of Road Transport and Safety through the inspectorate unit, says transport and communications minister, Mr Kitso Mokaila.
He said the exercise has, thus far, shown that five operators had been licensed to operate after 8pm in Ramotswa, but that the situation on the ground was that the operators were not servicing their time slots accordingly.
He said his ministry would device a new strategy of addressing the challenges faced by public passengers. He said their operation was frequent during pick periods and month ends, and noted that the situation was not only peculiar in Ramotswa, but to other areas like Mochudi, Molepolole and even Francistown.
Member of Parliament for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked the minister if the transport department had completed the monitoring of bus operators that did not comply with the set time schedules, especially those that operated after 8pm between Gaborone and Ramotswa, and to state the findings.ENDS
