While many people are hankering to enrich themselves through government programmes, and some are in need of government help to venture into business, Mr Goitseone Mokonopi says such is the root of laziness and the reason many have abandoned their businesses.

Even though he does not express total disapproval of government’s attempts to uplift livelihoods, Mr Mokonopi believes self-reliance was the way to go, adding that those who benefited from such initiatives lacked the drive and passion to run their projects and ended up abandoning them.

The Kopong-born and bred 31-year-old lad thinks differently, and to give credence to his thought process, he started his business, which comprises of photography, photo editing and videography, mainly wedding and modeling photography in 2013 and has never looked back.

He said his passion for photography and lack of employment were the motivating factors for him, adding that his business was running smoothly and the income sustained him.

“My passion for photography developed when I was still a young boy. I am grateful for who I am today thanks to Mr Dan Sibanda, who moulded me into the photographer I am today,” he said, adding that he was thrilled because he was living his dream.’

He also mentioned former Prime Time producer, Mr Kagiso Mokonopi and Limkokwing lecturer of photography and script writing, Mr Esenaga Mbwe as his other mentors.

The owner of Eagle Digital Productions noted that he was an inspiration to other photographers and living proof that everything was possible in life if one was keen to achieve their ambition.

Mr Mokonopi said the use of social media as a means of advertising helped his business to prosper as a lot of people had access to the Internet.

He revealed that his pricing strategy and customer service were the best secrets that attracted customers, adding that he valued customer satisfaction over everything in his business.

“My pricing is affordable to everyone and this helps my business to grow as more customers come for the affordable prices,” he said, highlighting that pricing was the key to competitiveness.

Mr Mokonopi advised other youth to do market research and feasibility studies about their business dreams before venturing into any business, as doing that would help them succeed.

He closed off by advising people to utilise their talents and live their dreams. ENDS
