12 Jun 2018

Ministry of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development is currently undertaking transformation in all brigades.

The ministry hopes the transformation will address most challenges  facing the institutions.

Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development Mr Tshenolo Mabeo  told Parliament on Monday that Tswapong North Brigade had enrolled 92 students and out of the enrolled students,   Bricklaying and Plastering as well as Furniture and Cabinet Making had each enrolled 28, Secretarial Studies had  17 while Computer Studies enrolled  19. Mr Mabeo said a total of 13 lecturers existed in the institution, three for Carpentry and Joinery.Bricklaying and Plastering  has four lecturers, Secretarial Studies two lecturers, Computer Studies two lecturers, Computer Studies and Key Skills three lecturers.

Regarding the absence of the English lecturer, Mr Mabeo said the contract for the lecturer  expired on December 31, 2017 and the Deputy Principal who is a specialist in the subject has been teaching the subject..

The institution, he said was equipped with sufficient tools for the programmes that it offered except for Furniture and Cabinet Making, noting that the ministry was in the process of procuring additional tools and equipment to augment the shortfall for installation by September 2018.

Mr Lelatisitswe had wanted to know the number of  students at Lerala Brigade per subject offered in the school, availability of lecturers per subject and the duration the lecture has been with the school, the availability of furniture and tools in the school and the school building. He also wanted to know if it was true that English had been without a lecturer from August 2017 to May 2018 during the examination period. If so the minister was to explain how and where the students were examined on the subject and when the hiccups would be fixed. Ends
