The Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security has setup a technical team comprising of officials from the ministry and Botswana Power Corporation(BPC) to undertake review of the National Electricity Standard Connection Cost (NESC) programme.

NESC programme was set up to cater for electricity connections to households at a standardised cost of P5 000.

Briefing Parliament on the progress of the review on Tuesday, Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Eric Molale said the review entailed both technical and financial aspects to give cognizance to the sustainability of the fund and reliable supply.

The technical team, he said started work in June 2018 and was scheduled for completion August end.

Nkange  Member of Parliament Mr  Edwin Batshu had asked the minister to update  Parliament on the progress made towards the review of the programme in order to cater for the connection of households that were beyond the current 500 metres limit. Ends
