Coaches focus on building teams

03 Jun 2018

Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) league kicked off over the weekend with women’s teams Mafolofolo, Spiking Stars and Police playing their league matches at Lobatse Sports Complex.

Although Mafolofolo and Police won their games, Mafolofolo and Spiking Stars coaches said in the next two years, they would focus on building and developing their girls for stronger teams.

In an interview, Kabo Ntshinogang of Mafolofolo said most of his girls were new and therefore the aim was to build and develop the team rather than focusing on winning the league.

Ntshinogang said although he won all his matches, his plan was to develop and build a strong team.

He said even though he was impressed by his team's performance, a lot still needed to be done.

Coach Kealeboga Mmekwane of Spiking Stars also explained that building the team which comprised of school leaving girls  was his priority.

Mmekwane indicated that for him it was more about hard work as he would also be teaching basics of the game before they could even engage them on tactics of winning.

Although he was not impressed with the results, Mmekwane said he was satisfied with their performance.

He said they would motivate the team by training the girls in all technicalities of the game.

Spiking Stars lost 3-nil to both Police and Mafolofolo in their weekend games. ENDS
