Thamaga entrepreneur calls for innovation

30 May 2018

A 25-year-old Thamaga entrepreneur has called on the youth to be innovative when they venture into the business sector.

Mr Hope Nkgwang of Hope Pioneer Holdings, who established his first business at the age of 18, revealed that young people need to have advanced or unique business ideas that would become ground breaking once they were implemented.

He also called on the youth to wake up the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst them, stating that they were the architects of their own lives.

He noted that the spirit of entrepreneurship could only be awoken by networking with established business gurus, as they would be accorded the opportunity to absorb as much as they could from such people.

He encouraged the youth to mind the circle they kept and to be cautious about how they presented themselves.

Having the right attitude towards your business, not doubting your own capabilities were also some principles that Mr Nkgwang painted as most important as they could lead to success of a business idea.

“A business is not entirely about making money, but it is also about improving the lives of your clients. Anyone who ventured into a business found a gap or a problem in society and then they came up with a solution to the problem. That is the kind of thinking that we should have as young people who are passionate about business. We should shy away from copying the business ideas that already exist,” he said.

Mr Nkgwang further revealed that an innovative idea also started from one who had surveyed the market, knowing what was wrong or missing in society.

The Thamaga businessman, who is currently hosting a youth empowerment workshop which aims at equipping young people with all necessary information concerning business sector, noted that the youth should know that nothing in life came easy.

“As young people we should not give up easily in life as no one promised that we will have an easy ride to the final destination. We cannot rely on the government to create jobs for us and also fund us at the same time. We need to come together as entrepreneurs, share experiences and ideas on how we can improve our businesses and source funding. This includes starting a small side business such as catering which will generate money on a daily basis.

Anyone who gets into business should at least make an effort to equip themselves with information by enrolling for small business courses. There is no way one can run a business while undedicated about that particular sector they have ventured into,” he said.

He concluded by calling on society to be supportive by giving local brands first priority when they want a service to be provided to them, stating that it was the only way many local businesses could flourish. ENDS
