AP launches in Kweneng promises change

29 May 2018

Leader of Alliance for Progressives (AP), Mr Ndaba Gaolathe says his party is ready for state power.

Speaking at a rally at Lewis Primary School grounds in Molepolole over the weekend, Mr Gaolathe who is also Member of Parliament for Bonnington South said AP was ready to form a government that would bring development to the country.

He said AP had responsible leaders who could take the country forward.

“We have our own party leaders who are well unified and equipped enough to transform the economy of this country from what it is right now if given the chance to lead. Batswana are currently faced with many challenges. We at AP are more than capable and ready to face the challenges head-on and create a clean and respectful country that we are known to be.”

He said if given a chance in the 2019 general elections, they could make the country realise its potential.

For his part, the party deputy leader, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, who is also Member of Parliament for Francistown South, said his party differed a lot from other opposition parties because it encouraged inner consultation.

“Our leadership does not make decisions by themselves. We are not oppressive. We consult all the relevant people before making a decision. We are also a party that has Batswana’s interest at heart,” he said.

AP is a splinter group from the opposition Botswana Movement for Democracy. The party was formed following a violent elective congress in Bobonong last year. ENDS
