Muzila decries Tafic relegation
29 May 2018
The relegation of Tafic Football Club from the country's elite league to Debswana First Division (North) has touched many hearts in Francistown, including the mayor of Francistown, Sylvia Muzila.
Addressing the City of Francistown full council mmeting on May 28, Muzila said it was sad for them and they prayed that club would return to the premiership.
Machimenyenga, as Tafic are known in football circles, were relegated despite winning 2-1 against Black Forest in their last game.
Tafic had secured a place in the BTC Premiership after a long campaign in the lower division, but all was lost again with the team, which had been the only hope for the city.
However, Muzila consoled herself with the number of medals the northern region won from three sporting activities that were hosted by the city from last year to this year.
The sporting events included the Botswana Primary Schools Sports Association (BOPSSA), the Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) and the Confederation of the Southern Sports Association (COSASA).
She explained that the BOPSSA and BISA competitions showed that the northern region won 13 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 13 bronze medals while under the COSASA championship, Botswana got position three with 20 gold medals, 24 silver and 35 bronze medals. ENDS
