Not a lot of people can devote their time and resources to helping others, but youthful Ms Lorato Obuseng and Ms Thato Motlhatlhedi have dedicated their time, skills and resources to help the less fortunate.
The two compassionate young women formed an organisation called Share My Story in 2013 and currently they have four other members.
In an interview, Ms Obuseng revealed that Share My Story was in a mission to change the stories, struggles and experiences of ordinary people by bringing differences to their live, and that they want to create effective communication channels for volunteerism and donations towards the less fortunate.
Ms Obuseng said they stand to be the voices of people that had persevered through life struggles.
She noted that they had donated food items and toiletries in various villages through the help of social workers in identifying deserving beneficiaries. She said they had also donated to other charity organisations.
Ms Obuseng said they funded the organisation from their pockets and that they normally organised a food run street campaign to collect food and toiletries from the community which they later donated.
She explained that during the food run they set up a basket stall at a busy location in Gaborone and that shoppers would be able to give out anything from food and toiletries.
She further indicated that the food run street campaign had beared fruit.
"The different stories we hear of people surviving the harshest of life conditions as well as of people that dedicate their time and resources to help others do inspire us a lot," she said.
Ms Obuseng stated that limited resources, financial aid and resources remained their main challenge.
She noted that despite the challenges they were eager to soldier on and lend a helping hand to defeat poverty. ENDS
