Malete Land Board engages community
27 May 2018
Malete Land Board on May 25 took to the village of Otse in the South East District to breach the gap between Gamalete land authority and the community.
The Malete Land Board roadshow also included other stakeholders who are key to the development and management of land.
Land board chairperson, Ms Philda Kereng stated that they were willing and committed to addressing public grievances about their services.
She stated that land issues were by nature thorny and that they as the land authority in Gamalete were willing to engage with the community on all land issues in their jurisdiction.
Ms Kereng highlighted that the Malete Land Board received various complaints from the community hence engaging the community could be one of the ways to address differences.
The knowledge that is imparted during the roadshow could be the much needed remedy, she said, adding that meeting the community in a relaxed environment would allow the community to engage with the land board staff freely.
Ms Kereng further said bringing services closer to the community saved time for the community as well as the money which they could be using to seek services in Ramotswa.
Earlier, Kgosi Mothusi Tsetse of Otse commended Malete Land Board for bringing services closer to his community.
He said “the community often complains about services which they get in places such as Ramotswa.”
However, he regretted that the turn up was not satisfactorily despite community members always complaining during kgotla meetings about lack of services in the village.
Kgosi Tsetse cautioned the community against being quick to complain and reporting government department for not availing services in the village. ENDS
