23 May 2018
Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Eric Molale has called on departments and parastatal organisations under the ministry to improve the quality of their service to citizens.
Mr Molale made the advice during the ministry’s excellence awards in Gaborone on May 22.
He said while the awards honoured employees’ good performance, they should also be used to reflect on work place systems in order to enhance the quality of service.
“The awards are meant to help reflect to see how we have been doing and what we have done for our people.
One has to do a bit of work so that others can do their bit and collectively that gives us some outcome that should make a better service rendered to Batswana,” said the minister.
He further urged the departments and parastatals to avoid working in silos, but nstead work together to be more effective.
The minister told employees that customer centricity was key to good service delivery.
“If we are to be customer centric we are mindful of the time and the speed at which you do your work to serve the customer,” said Mr Molale.
Permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Cornelius Dekop urged employees to endeavour to produce good results since they work under the ministry responsible for managing mineral and energy wealth for the country.
Mr Dekop also encouraged employees to collectively work together to avoid corruption in the ministry. “We should target zero corruption and zero maladministration in the ministry,” he said.
