BOPEU official urges stakeholders to support children

23 May 2018

Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU) regional secretary for Central Region, Julia Kebonang has urged teachers, parents and different stakeholders to nurture children’s talents by supporting them in any way possible.

Kebonang was speaking after the presentation of trophies to Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) management at BIUST recently.

The competition was won by the North Central Region.

She acknowledged that being a student, let alone a child, was not easy as children had other chores to do at home after school.

She added that some of the children come from less privileged families but they still manage to excel both in academics and extra-curricular activities, urging teachers and parents to support such children.

“These children need not just to be celebrated but to be supported in all possible ways to nurture their talents.

Their future depends on us their guardians, their parents, their teachers and the community at large.

Their future is in our hands,” she said.

Kebonang said the passion and love that the children had for sport was exceptional; hence stakeholders must assist teachers and BISA in shaping the future of tomorrow’s leaders.

She said BOPEU shall strive to have a continual relationship with them and contribute to build a better future for the children.

BISA Zone coordinator for athletics, Boikaego Anneetse appreciated BOPEU’s support saying they had been struggling to secure sponsorship for the North Central Region.

He said the awarding of medals and trophies by BOPEU was a motivating factor to the children and teachers. Ends
