Special needs pupils require love, protection and support to grow into productive and responsible citizens, says councillor for Mmaphula Central, Mr Molefhane Tseladikae.
Mr Tseladikae said in an interview that People living with Disabilities (PLWD) should be treated just like anyone else in society as they were capable like everybody else.
Mr Tseladikae, who was donating stationery, gloves, socks, toys and toiletry to special needs pupils of Ratsie Setlhako Primary School, said pupils should not be demoralised by being disabled, adding that disability was not inability.
“Do not give up or be discouraged by anything in life because you can make it in life and become anything you want to be,” he said.
He encouraged the pupils to work hard as education was the key to success.
Ms Malebogo Rakgama, a representative from Education Centre, commended Mr Tseladikae for the donation, adding that government alone could not afford to support special education classes.
She also commended Mr Tseladikae for working to make the school’s special needs pupils happy and motivated.
Ms Rakgama also commended the school for performing well in sports, academics and art.ENDS
