BOKA launches new logo

22 Jul 2013

Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) has unveiled a new logo.

The logo, launched on July 18, replaced the old one that the association had used since 1977.

BOKA president, sensei Million Masumbika said the new logo would project a new look for the karate brand to current and potential sponsors. He also said it would revive the spirit of karate family.

The occasion was also used to launch the first ever appointed BOKA patron in quest to bridge the gap between the association and the corporate world. Masumbika said BOKA had a good track record for good corporate governance and best performance in winning medals at regional, continental and international competitions.

However, he noted that their progress had been stifled by lack of funds and therefore saw the launch of a patron as a way to improve the association’s attractiveness to sponsors. Masumbika outlined that the association had incomplete projects and would need funds to be constructed.

He believed the launch of patron would assist in soliciting sponsorship for the organisation. Youth, sport and culture director, Falcon Sedimo commended BOKA for taking the initiative to re-brand itself.

Sedimo indicated that branding was a process that created a unique image that would remain in people’s minds and make them loyal to karate. He also indicated that it was important for karate to brand itself for it to be visible.

“It is an easy way of selling yourself and leaving a mark,” he said. He also said it gave identity to the people that wanted to stand and be recognised for who they were without hesitation.

The ambassador of Japan to Botswana, Hiroyasu Kobayashi was among dignitaries that graced the occasion. ENDS
