Choose battles wisely-Setshwaelo

14 May 2018

Women entrepreneurs have been advised to choose their needs wisely.

Counselor and wellness expert, Ms Ntombi Setshwaelo said this at a women’s power high tea event attended by women entrepreneurs from all walks of life in Gaborone on Saturday.

Ms Setshwaelo said women should find a balance, saying “you can be assertive without being aggressive, that is putting your point across, fighting a good fight and coming out strong.”

She further said women should choose what was worth fighting for and that some battles were not worth it, in business or otherwise.

Ms Setshwaelo also encouraged women to work on being holistically well, adding that at times women sit in relationships which were abusive which she said was toxic not only to themselves but to their children.

She encouraged women to seek help, be proactive and clean themselves up.

She also said, “if your mind is injured, you are bleeding and broken you cannot manage your life.”

Ms Setshwaelo said as part of being well women had to be aware of their blind spots.

She encouraged that instead of justifying their blind spots and denying them they should work on them, adding that imperfections were there to show areas they needed to work on.

On the same note, life coach, motivator and entrepreneur, Mr Thabo Mhlanga encouraged women to stand out with boldness and confidence.

He said they did not have to necessarily follow what society said about them, such as saying that the corporate world was for men, saying that they were generally disadvantaged because they were women.

Mr Mhlanga said women were the ground on which ideas were born and that they had the power to choose no matter what life threw at them.

Mr Mhlanga furthermore encouraged women not to take short cuts to success but develop an endurance mentality of finishing what they had started.  ENDS
